Beading Classes
I've enrolled in a beginner course of beading. I figured that if I was going to spend more money on projects, I would have to know what I'm doing (it's the academic in me!).
Here's the programme:
Week 1: Daisy chain bracelet or necklace
Week 2: Brick stitch bracelet
Week 3: Two way weaving necklace
Week 4: Wire-work earrings or necklace
Week 5: Square stitch bracelet
Week 6: Loom work bracelet
Week 7: Spiral/Tubular netting
Week 8: Peyote necklace or collier
These projects use terms I've seen/heard bandied about in beading magazines & when talking to friends who bead, but to me they may as well have been written/spoken in Greek. I'm having a marvelous time on Wednesday/Saturday mornings (depending on my work commitments) trotting off to see Edith & Madeline at International Bead Collection or IBC for short.
Are you learning any new craft techniques in 2008? If so, let me know.
Happy crafting to one and all,
Bliss

I always recommend 3 beading stores. They're all US based, but I believe they all ship internationally, and two are based on the West Coast (Fusion Beads and Art Beads) so your shipping time should be less.
Fusion Beads - check out their Inspiration pages!!! And shipping to Australia starts at $6
Art Beads
Brightlings Beads
Thanks for that! I'm pretty pleased with IBC, but am often frustrated that Brisbane is pretty poor for craft supplies unless one wants to go to Spotlight.
Your Sunflower bracelet is so cute, I love how bright and cheerful it is (especially with the nasty weather we are having now, freezing drizzle to be followed by snow, yuck). The different projects you'll be doing sound fun, I'll enjoy seeing what they look like. Lovely stash in your earlier post too, my favorite is the peacock chair, it is so pretty. The twirling rabbits are adorable too.

I love the colors in that!!!
Your bracelet is so sweet. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time with your new hobby. I'm going to SP tomorrow and will ask my beading friend if our local bead shop (which she raves about) has a web-site and ships abroad.
New hobbies this year - I think not at the moment. I'm still trying to re-start work on the quilt I just had to start in 2006. I do have a writing project waiting to be started. Does that count?
Sounds like a great class! And I love the bracelet shown in the photo - very nice! :D
Good for you! Taking the steps to learn a new craft this year! I'm actually hoping to start some serous photography. I'm waiting for the next session of continuing education courses at the local college, so I can enroll for the first course. This gets you from Joe to Pro in 8 credits.
enjoy the beading course....it is very addictive (I have just started to learn as well)
this is a great pattern I like the flowers!
