Thank You!

Thank you everyone for your kind words earlier in the week. Your friendship & support were much appreciated.

You are so right in your suggestion of retreating a while & declining further contact with the people involved in this contretemps, even though they are family. Toxic relationships are not to be endured under any circumstance.

I will keep crafting for the pleasure of it, but will check that it's going to be appreciated before I offer my work as a gift to someone else.

I might not be ready to join in stitching exchanges, but I will sign up for a couple of SALS in the coming months.

Hugs to all of you,

Bliss

Bliss,

I'm glad to see you've not let the ignorant party wound you so deeply that you don't want to come back to stitching. Your craft, our craft is done and given from the heart. There is no sweeter or more thoughtful gift than that. If these family members of yours can't see that too bad for them!

I am currently going through a divorce and my hopefully soon to be ex-husband hating my stitching. I never stitched when he was home. One his comments to me while the marriage was falling apart was this: I hate your stitching! If I never see it again, it will be too soon for me. It is a fat, overweight (same thing), grandmotherly craft. There is nothing sexy about it and nothing sexy about you doing it.

I was devastated I knew he disliked it, but to this extent, I had no clue. I almost gave it all up. I didn't stitch for many many weeks. I was surrounded by some very supportive people and the women on my cross stitch board, that just kept me barely hanging in. There were points I would stitch just in spite of the man, or shall I say, loser!

I guess what I'm really trying to say, is don't let the nastiness of a couple ruin something that obviously makes you very happy. The feeling you will get when you give a gift from your heart that is truly appreciated by the recipient will be something that stays with you forever.

Big hugs!

I'm glad you are feeling better !!! I'll follow you SAL with great pleasure! And I'm sure one day you will find someone who will enjoy what you stitch or what you have to offer in an exchange. Keep in mind that in most exchanges, we have a lot of fun trying to find what will make the other one happy and most of us don't expect most. It is the joy of giving !!! That's the way I see the things !!!

Kudos to you for not letting them ruin your hobby. May you never experience anything like that ever again. :)

I am glad that you haven't been put off stitching and crafting completely. I look forward to seeing your new projects.
